HOW ROLLER SHUTTERS REDUCE CONDENSATION

Australian made Rollashield shutters play an integral part in reducing condensation in your home by improving insulation and reducing or eliminating condensation.

If the surface temperature of glass windows and glass doors is kept above dew point  the likelihood of condensation forming on the glass surface is greatly reduced to the point of elimination.

Dew Point
Dew point is the point at which the air temperature drops to a low enough level  for the moisture in the air to turn from vapour to water.  Most common occurrence is condensation on glass.

Insulation
Air is a poor conductor of heat.  Create an air pocket between a warm surface area and a cold surface area and the transfer of heat between the two is slowed right down.  Food flasks are a prime example.

Cross Ventilation
Warm air is damp air.  Cold air is dry air. To reduce or eliminate condensation in your home throw the windows and doors wide open to vent the house with cold air and reduce the moisture laden warm air.

BEST USE OF A ROLLER SHUTTER TO ELIMINATE CONDENSATION

At night lock the insulated roller shutter fully down and then COMPLETELY open the blinds or curtains inside.  The roller shutter keeps the cold off the window pane while maintaining privacy and warmth.

The window frame and glass warms up because of increased internal airflow, the outside cold air is kept away from the window, the dew point to when vapour turns to water is raised and condensation is unlikely to occur.

During the day partially raise the roller shutter to the point where the perforated hinge comes into effect so at to create a cross ventilation through the affected rooms while keeping the home warm, secure and private.
